Finding highlight shades for dark skin tones can be challenging, especially since there is an array of tones to work with - so most products aren't exactly "one size fits all." Luckily, there are more and more Black-owned beauty brands on the rise, like Fenty Beauty, Pat Mcgrath Labs and Mented Cosmetics to name a few.
While many large makeup companies are becoming much more inclusive when it comes to color options and ranges, there is a lot of work to be done in the beauty industry. Highlighting is important because it brings those dimensions back, adding shimmer to the high points like your cheek and brow bones, while careful contouring can add some shadow.
